"The following memories of Andrea are very special to me and I will always hold them in my heart where I have a soft spot for her. I can remember when Julie was 6 or 7 months pregnant and I could feel Andrea moving around in her stomach when we were lying in bed at night. Before she was born a sweet spirit accompanied her from the pre-mortal world. She was anxious and willing to be born.
When she was born it was a special day in my life. It was as if I was surrounded by a Heavenly peace. Andrea was a beautiful baby and she was a mommy’s girl. The best way to get her attention and try to get her to feel that Dad was special was to play games with her. Some of her favorite games were egg, bucking horse and hide and seek. When I would play hide and seek with my three girls Andrea would be the easiest to find because it was simple to get her to giggle. She giggled so much that none of her sisters wanted to be in close proximity to her because her location was a dead give a way every time.
Andrea had a sweet tooth and she liked candy so much that she would often scratch my bones for a long time when promised a reward that included candy or ice cream. I miss those days very much.

Andrea also had a love for kittens and cats. And if there was a runt in the litter she would give that one special attention. Some of her favorite cats were White socks, Miss Anklet and Slipper. Slipper was a special cat that even I took a liking to. Slipper loved Andrea and would go to her before anyone else. Slipper was moody now and then kind of like Andrea. Andrea also loved chickens. She could pet and tame a chicken that no one else could. Some of her favorite chickens were little girl and little boy, Allen, Gorgeous, Cornelius and Owl Hen.
One time Andrea hid about 30 eggs instead of bringing them into the house. Twenty-two days later they all hatched out and we inherited a large brood of chickens. Andrea loved them all just as a Mother hen loves all of her baby chicks. When she was in grammar school and we lived on First Avenue in Napa she would often hide in a field full of mustard grass when it was time to go to school in the morning which made her late for school. She also loved to grow garden. She also was a very good at spelling in school and worked very hard at getting all “A’s” from kindergarten to her last year at BYUI.
A very special day was her baptism in Napa. She was baptized at the same time as a good friend of hers who is Ashley Alkema. Amy, Andrea and Ashley sang a song at the baptism that was wonderful. I am honored that Andrea let me baptize her and confer the gift of the Holy Ghost upon her. Andrea was a member of the Brownies and the Girl Scouts and sold cookies as a fund raiser. Because she wanted to sell more than anyone else I was coerced to go out many nights with her and help sell cookies. Whenever I see Girl Scouts selling cookies I always buy a few boxes, because it reminds me of when my three girls used to sell them. Andrea and her sisters always liked to play a game called “slug bug” and there are a lot of good memories of those games. Andrea is a hard, dedicated worker who will be successful at most anything when she puts her mind to it. She has a unique quality of hard work and staying close to the spirit so she can receive help from heaven. She has always been obedient and will be blessed for that. She served a mission and out worked everyone."
